आमच्याविषयी

अरबी समुद्राच्या सान्निध्यात, आगाशी आणि अर्नाळा या ऐतिहासिक गावांच्या मध्यभागी वसलेले ज्योती माता चर्च हे श्रद्धा, प्रार्थना आणि सेवाभाव यांच्या पायावर उभे असलेले एक सशक्त कॅथलिक श्रद्धाकेंद्र आहे. ज्योती आणि परिसरातील श्रद्धाळूंना आध्यात्मिक बळ देत, प्रभूच्या प्रेमाचा आणि ऐक्याचा संदेश देण्याचे कार्य हे चर्च सातत्याने करत आहे.

या चर्चचा इतिहास १९८८ मध्ये स्थापन झालेल्या ज्योती माता सेंटरपासून सुरू होतो. स्थानिक श्रद्धाळूंना जवळच उपासना केंद्र मिळावे या उद्देशाने या आध्यात्मिक प्रवासाला सुरुवात झाली. पोर्तुगीज काळातील नोसा सेन्होरा दा लुझ (Nossa Senhora da Luz) अर्थात अवर लेडी ऑफ लाईट या ऐतिहासिक वारशातून प्रेरणा घेऊन या केंद्राला आणि नंतर चर्चला ज्योती माता हे नाव देण्यात आले. 

धर्मगुरू, धार्मिक भगिनी आणि श्रद्धाळू यांच्या अथक परिश्रमांमुळे हे केंद्र सातत्याने विकसित होत गेले. २००१ साली या केंद्राची आध्यात्मिक जबाबदारी संत डॉन बॉस्को संस्थेकडे सोपविण्यात आली. त्यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली श्रद्धाळूंचे धार्मिक जीवन अधिक समृद्ध झाले. अनेक वर्षांच्या प्रार्थना, त्याग आणि लोकसहभागामुळे अखेर ६ मे २००७ रोजी वसई धर्मप्रांताचे बिशप परमपूज्य थॉमस डाबरे यांच्या हस्ते ज्योती माता चर्चचे उद्घाटन आणि आशीर्वादविधी संपन्न झाला. 

आज ज्योती माता चर्च हे केवळ प्रार्थनेचे स्थान नाही, तर श्रद्धा, आशा, प्रेम, ऐक्य आणि सेवाभाव यांचे प्रेरणास्थान आहे. मरियेच्या मातृसंरक्षणाखाली आणि ख्रिस्ताच्या प्रकाशाने प्रेरित होऊन हे चर्च कुटुंबांचे सबलीकरण, युवकांचे घडविणे, समाजसेवा आणि सुवार्तेचा संदेश प्रसारित करण्याचे कार्य निष्ठेने पार पाडत आहे. अनेक पिढ्यांच्या विश्वास, समर्पण आणि त्यागाचे हे जिवंत प्रतीक आहे. 

About Us

Nestled between the historic villages of Agashi and Arnala along the beautiful Arabian Sea coast, Our Lady of Light Church (Jyoti Mata Church) is a vibrant Catholic community rooted in faith, prayer, and service. The church serves as a spiritual home to the faithful of Jyoti and the surrounding areas, bringing people together in worship, fellowship, and Christian living. 

The origins of the church can be traced back to 1988, when the local Catholic community, responding to the need for a place of worship closer to home, established the Our Lady of Light Centre. Inspired by the rich heritage of a historic Portuguese-era church known as Nossa Senhora da Luz (Our Lady of Light), the community embraced this title as a symbol of Christ's light shining in their lives.

Through the dedication of priests, religious, and parishioners, the Centre steadily grew in faith and mission. In 2001, the pastoral care of the community was entrusted to the Salesians of Don Bosco, whose ministry further strengthened the spiritual life of the faithful. After years of prayer, sacrifice, and collective effort, the dream of a permanent church became a reality with the blessing and inauguration of Our Lady of Light Church on 6 May 2007 by Bishop Thomas Dabre of the Diocese of Vasai. 

Today, Our Lady of Light Church stands as a beacon of faith, hope, love, and unity. Guided by the Gospel and inspired by the maternal care of Our Lady, the parish continues its mission of proclaiming Christ, nurturing families, empowering young people, and serving all with compassion. It remains a living testimony to the unwavering faith of generations who have helped build and sustain this vibrant community of believers.
